What you are doing right now is a microcosm of what these women are fighting against. The video is about how the women of Sudan are working to improve their lives and communities with the help of donor sisters in the US. Yet all you can do is argue about wars, justified and unjustified, and oil, and the role of the US in each. You have ignored the video, and the women featured in it, to pursue your own agenda. This is what happens all over the world--this is how wars start, justified or not.

They help women because when you invest in men, the men benefit. When you invest in women, the whole community benefits. Women and girls who receive aid money or microcredit loans invest 90% in their families--their entire families. The same rate for men is 30-40%. Women in impoverished countries think long-term; when they are hungry, they learn to fish.

This is great.

And think this way, if Usa continues with unjustified wars... well, someday the world will turn against Usa, what? The world allready is starting to hate Usa? How can that be possible... They were allies in WW2... Usa helped in the war... what? they are becoming like the guys they hate? And yes cosmo1pug... I know the evil thats out there, and I dont know who is the most evil, Terrorists or Usa? Read history and you will understand some of the motives behind both sides.

WE NEED OIL! well... what about BUY IT, thinking that way, I go to your house, I kill you and your family and take all your money, and all because what? I need money! Ok, its good, god will forgive me, is that really what you think cosmo1pug? I cant believe... And yes, its possible to make great cars with renewable energy and all that stuff. Now, in the other hand we have to think as well that oil is what makes the middle east survive... But still, Its their oil, buy it, not steal it. Dumbass...

Yes war is fought over resources, Cosmo1pug. And we know that oil is not a renewable resource. So why not put our money into development of renewable sources of energy such as wind and solar. Watch something other than mainstream news on channels sponsored by electric, gas & oil companies who have you thinking exactly the way they want you to think, screaming, "WE NEED OIL!!!" Check out Pacifica Radio News, Democracy Now, LINK TV, Free Speech TV, Nation Magazine.

Listen here all you hippies. War is fought over resources. If they were always available to everyone there would be no fighting. We NEED OIL!!! You fools don't seem to realize how our whole country depends on it. Driving to work, mowing your yard, and oh right our HUGE military. LOL you would probally have the US shrink its military.. HHAHHAH you guys have no idea the evil that is out there. It might by 2008 for you in the US but it is still 1950 (WW2) for everyone else. Start learning chinese

Ummm. last I checked the president is elected. Every time the senate and congress fumble around issues it is nice to see that a white man still has the ability to control the US and lead it the right direction. By taking control of Iraq we have secured our way of life for many years to come. WW3 is now years away instead of months. Your a fool!

UDSI72> I'm not saying it's not important 4 us 2 take ownership of everything that's happened throughout the history of our region & conflict, but that it's important we don't allow 4 that 2 stop us from focusing on the future, which is the only thing we can change. I believe in withdrawing from the territories, but as part of a peace agreement, not 1 sided. Also, I'm not sure what the toda is 4 but shukran 2 u 2.

At this point, if a lot more Americans don't start waking to the fact that the only way to take back control of our government is for everyone to get active, not just by voting but by actively participating, organizing and communicating with each other as we're doing here and through the media...letting elected officials know that what you want them to do and that you're going to monitor their actions on your requests, and are not going to back down, things will continue as usual.

lysel3, I agree we desperately need more than a 2party system but can it happen before the 2008 election? Maybe we should actually vote lesser of 2 evils, but this time pack on the pressure to whomever wins through our own lobbying groups like MoveOn, SaveDarfur, Earth Action Network, etc. (By "we" I'm talking about humanists, those whose priorities are measured by their human value over their dollar value. What do you think?
