It's just a movie right!! Al Pacino has to act like that!! But it´s a great movie with fantastic Hackman and Al. And i think that that rape scene damaged the film popularity. It just maked a lot of public uncomfortable with it and it was 70´s, people had more conservative views then today. All in all the film didn´t get much publicity then it deserverd. Unfair!!

I just bought the VHS on ebay for $3. :) I recall a scene that I think is from this movie. AP is on a public phone with his wife/GF, holding a lamp (?) he brought for the baby. She tells him the baby died when she fell down the stairs because he wasn't there to help her. He flips out and Hackman yells into the phone "what did you say to him?!" Am I remembering the right film? I was a kid and it was a long time ago.

Pacino and Hackman are fantastic together in this film. Some of the prison scenes are very grim indeed.
