I think that triple axel was as good as any I've ever seen, in men's or women's competition.

I think he is her elder brother. When they were small, he was a junior icehockey member. Little Midori first came to icerink to see his play.

"bcollins2007" Even after 18 years later I am astounded with this performance and many other Midori's memorable program. I first saw Midori in 1984 Skate Canada, the 15 years old skating sensation,FYI, Midori set World Record by completing 5 major triple jumps minus 3 Axel. 1988 Calgary Olympics..1988 NHK Cup, check her 3 Axel here, textbook clean..1989 Worlds..1990 Worlds..1991 Trophee Lalique..1992 NHK Cup..1992 Albertville Olympics and 1993 "Rose of pain" the Greatest jumper,IMHO

I am amazed that the judges still gave her 6.0's for the first skater of the last group. By the way, look at a guy in the audience when Midori does her 3T/3T combo (at 3'52" and 5'38") --- what is going on with him?

The most amazing things to me that make her so special. The Flow, the Speed into and out of the jumps and the Distance she covers, just amazing. Her spins are incredible, too, one of the greatest layback positions of any skater.

Midori Ito is,IMO, the greatest jumper in woman figure skating history! under the new "CoP" scoring system she would scored very high "GoE" for all of her jumps,especially..3A..3Lz..3T/3T(very best even today) Why? 1. tremendous entry speed 2. explosive take-off(tremendous springs) 3. the elevation (great height) 4. the distance 5. full rotations and controlled landing 6. correct edge entry (no Lip or Flutz) 7. the flow out of the jump 8. her 2nd jump of combo jump is higher than 1st.

I have a question - is that Japanese Gentleman they show after the perfomance when the announcer is say Kurt Browning would have trouble coming up with that kinda performance the Emperor of Japan. It looks like him.

That is why I called Midori Ito, the "Queen of Triple Axels".

If she'd jump any higher, she'd be literally flying out of the rink in no time!
