Current service obligation after the Academy is five years active duty, compared to five active / three reserve for the DOD academies. We retain our officers past the initial contract at a higher percentage than the other branches as well.

I believe from the USCGA it's something like 7 years, yet if you are selected for an aviation slot you must serve at least 11 years.

Sorry, you're wrong. ;) I'm just glad our military hasn't resorted to recruiting idiots as Officers (atleast, not yet), I'd be fearful of you making decisions without any substance. Learn something about the Coast Guard, then feel free to post when you have the information to back it up.
