Farewell Tour? Is he not as Jesus in this Musical anymore? Will he retire?!

His voice IS better here - less breathy and more solid. Have to say, the original London cast album (Ian Gillan of Deep Purple) is by far, still the best. Everyone else has less feel and range... listen to it!

he's better now than in the first version of JCS...... a rock opera that I always loved..... This is the best version I've heard upto now..... brought tears to my eyes.... What a voice...... I used to be able to sing the early version so to say....used to hit the high notes perfectly.... can't anymore.... he still hits the high notes perfectly, I'm jealous ;-) He is the only real jesus in JCS. My HAT OFF TO HIM

Loved Teds voice 35 years ago in the original, but I agree. I like his voice the way it is now even better.

I am going to see this in at least 3 different cities this year, and it's a life dream to see Neeley in the role. The 2000 version left me incredibly flat. And for those complaining about the timing, etc. if you want to hear it done exactly like the movie, just pop in the movie. Live performances are always done differently, and tweaked a bit. That's what makes it worth going to the theater, to get something fresh and different. Otherwise, stay at home and watch the flick.

I think you are right, maybe is something that has to do with a spanish connection with Camilo Sesto, who at the time of the JCS spanish production was already a well beloved singer, even when I'm from Mexico, and he's from spain, I remember my dad and my aunt (his sister) had all the Camilo Sesto recordings, now the thing also is that the performances you see here on youtube, were pre-recorded, he wasn't singing, but for what my dad said, watching him acttually doing it live, was something else

I respectfully disagree. While Sesto does a decent job, his performance just doesn't move me. His falsetto is rather girly. But that's just my opinion. As I understand it, it's much different for Spanish JCS fans.

I am going to see this here in Los Angeles in December, with Ted Neeley! It's a dream come true - I cannot wait! He is so sharp even 35 years later!
