Text of the video: The Olympic Games. A symbol of peaceful competition that we will remember forever. These memories can be pleasant (as in Athens 2004) or they can be horrifying (as in Berlin 1936 when Hitler opened the Games). How will we remember the Games in China? One thing is for sure: The human rights aren't really respected in China. The eleventh grade of the Social Studies Course at Voerde Grammar School (Voerde is a little German town near Düsseldorf) fights for the human rights in China. The fundamental idea of the Olympic Games is that the youth of the world peacefully comes together. So there is one question that has to be asked: Can the Olympic Games take place in a country in which human rights are constantly trampled on? Der 11er SoWi Kurs des Gymnasiums Voerde setzt sich für die Anerkennung der Menschenrechte in China ein. Besonders, da in diesem Land bald die olympischen Spiele, die eigentlich ein Zeichen des friedlichen Miteinanders sind, stattfinden, muss folgende Frage gestellt werden: Ist die Durchführung der Olympischen Spiele in China überhaupt vertretbar?
