A White House proposal aimed at rescuing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac may end up helping strapped homeowners, too. Lawmakers could vote as early as Friday on a bill that would let the government lend support to the mortgage giants AND allow homeowners to get new, cheaper loans instead of losing their homes to foreclosure.++ The husband of a Fort Bragg Army nurse is expected in court later today on murder and arson charges.
