2-4/15 PRINCESS MONONOKE [Backstage]w/EnglishSub

Back

In this 4th episode of the 2nd series, we see how a flying arrow is depicted in animation with a technique called ''Background Animation (背景動画)'', where the background goes by in a very quick series of motions while the arrow itself stays on the same spot. In another similar flying arrow shot, the arrow doesn't stay in this case and its path is blurred side by side while the same Background Animation method is used, only to make it have even more intensity! Then the next come the two CG operators (Kataama-san and Momose-san) who explain to us what makes Ghibli's CG techniques and their concepts in adapting those in hand-drawn animation probably so different from the conventional CGI used in the games, films etc. Finally, Miyazaki's struggles again we will witness when he gets to the climax of the story. Enjoy this great series anyhow then ( ;
