Nino Bravo murió en abril de 1973, asà que esta canción fue compuesta e interpretada bastante antes de que se produjera el golpe de estado que derrocó al Presidente legÃtimo de Chile. Si Nino Bravo hubiera vivido cuando se produjo el "pronunciamiento", estoy seguro de que habrÃa renegado de él y de los crÃmenes que se cometieron durante la dictadura de Pinochet. Es más, yo considero que esta canción deberÃa considerarse un homenaje a los que son perseguidos y encarcelados por defender (pacÃficamente) sus ideas, ya sea en la Cuba de Castro como en el Chile de Pinochet.
