Français : cette chanson dont les origines remontent à la Renaissance, chanson flamande du livre de chants d'Anvers (1539), était déjà traduite en allemand en 1603 (livre de luth de Thysius). Elle fait référence à la tradition de l'arbre de Mai. Pour cette fête des jeunes gens de la campagne ont pénétré dans la ville où ils ont fêté le Mai avec leurs amis, mais au lever du jour, ils doivent quitter la ville, car le gardien ferme les portes. Le jeune homme fait donc ses adieux à sa belle en se plaignant du garde qui souffle déjà dans son cor sur les murailles. English : A song of the Renaissance, from the songbook of Antwerpen in dutch (1539). Translate into german already in 1602 (lute book of Thysius),here the german version). It is the story of a boy who came into the town for the feast of the 1st May (there were made a May tree to celebrate the coming of the spring), were meeting there with his love, and must go away in the early morning as at the break of dawn the watcher on the town walls was blewing in his horn to announce the closing of the town doors.
