Fire Flash over, 411 Dogwood, Newtown

Back

Fire department had a well involved 2-1/2 story sfd. Had a flash over in one 1st floor room during exterior ops. 1 Elderly woman fatally injured, was flown out & died enroute to the hospital. For those who like to Monday morning quarterback a game they didn't even see,(as in the 2 posts above) here is more info. When the F/D arrived half of the house was well involved with a partial collapse of the roof to 1st floor on the c-d corner. An interior attack was started but abandoned due to the rapidly deteriorating conditions of the home, and rapid spread of fire thru this wood frame house, with the possibillity of further collapse. Fire had entered the crawl spaces and started running the roof even before the F/D arrived. They did what they could and more in trying to save the remainder of the house. They did eventually re-enter the home and extinguished all remaining fire after the exterior attack knocked down enough fire to re-enter. Video and pictures are only a small amount in time of an incident that lasted much longer than what you see. It also only shows one angle of a fire that has many more sides to it than what you are watching. But then again, there's always someone out there that thinks they know it all, and would have done a much better job. FEEN
