Malaysia Cup 2007/2008 -- 23 July 2008, Darul Aman Stadium, Alor Star, Kedah, Malaysia. - KEDAH membelasah Pulau Pinang 6-2 pada saingan bola sepak Piala Malaysia di Stadium Darulaman. Tuan rumah yang beraksi tanpa penjaga gol utamanya, Helmi Eliza Elias dan pertahanan kiri, Mohd. Shafizan Hashim berjaya mempamerkan permainan menghiburkan di hadapan kira-kira 25,000 penyokong. Keasyikan penyokong Kedah direntap seketika apabila Mohd. Farizal Rozali menghadiahkan gol pendahuluan buat Pulau Pinang seawal minit kesembilan. Kealpaan benteng pertahanan tuan rumah terus dihukum pasukan pelawat pada minit ke-18 apabila bola tepisan penjaga gol muda Kedah, Abdul Hadi Hamid terkena kaki V. Thirumurugan untuk kedudukan 2-0. Tersentak dengan gol itu, anak buah Mohd. Azraai Khor Abdullah kembali bangkit dan hasilnya, Mohd. Fadzly Baharom berjaya merapatkan jurang gol pada minit ke-33. Peluang terus terbuka buat Kedah apabila penyerang Pulau Pinang, Mohd. Farizal dilayangkan kad merah oleh pengadil perlawanan, Lee Chong Sheng pada minit ke-37 kerana mengasari Victor Andrag. Kesempatan itu digunakan tuan rumah apabila Fadzly menyamakan kedudukan pada minit ke-41 sebelum Khyril Muhymeen Zambri meletakan pasukannya di hadapan enam minit kemudian. Kegarangan skuad Kenari terus terserlah pada apabila giliran Nelson Sam Martin menjaringkan gol keempat pada minit ke-59, sambil Khyril Muhymeen membuktikan kehebatannya untuk gol kedua peribadi pada minit ke-72. Malam gemilang Kedah dilengkapkan Marlon Alex James yang menjaringkan gol keenam pada minit ke-74. Kedah: Abdul Hadi Abdul Hamid, V. KEDAH overturn two-goal deficit to thrash Penang Kedah staged a magnificent comeback to overturn a two-goal deficit with an impressive 6-2 win over Penang at the Darulaman Stadium. The home fans, who had come to witness the defending champions stroll to an easy victory over the group's weakest side, were left shell-shocked as the visitors raced to a 2-0 lead within the opening 20 minutes. The Panthers shot ahead in just their first foray upfront after 10 minutes of play. Amir Shahreen Mubin ran down the left flank and his pin-point cross across the Kedah goal was diverted into the net by striker Mohd Farizal Rozali. Farizal heaped more misery on the home team eight minutes later. The Penang striker's blistering drive could only be parried by Kedah's second choice goalkeeper Abdul Hadi Hamid. Unfortunately for Kedah, the rebound ricocheted off backtracking defender V. Thirumurugan's legs into goal. Stunned by the two goals, Kedah redoubled their efforts and succeeded in reducing the deficit in the 33rd minute. Mohd Fadzly Baharom stole in behind the Penang defence to slot the ball home. And the President Cupper notched his eighth goal of the Malaysia Cup campaign eight minutes later by slotting home a loose ball for the equaliser. Penang's hope of salvaging something from the match was dealt a severe blow just before half-time when Farizal was sent off for retaliating in an off-the-ball incident with Kedah skipper A. Victor. It was all Kedah in the second-half and the Canaries needed just seven minutes to go ahead for the first time in the match. A Marlon James pull-back was swept into the net by national midfielder Mohd Khyril Muhymeen, who was playing only because he was given permission to be left out of the national squad's trip to India. Chilean midfielder Nelson Martin's beautiful strike from outside the penalty area made it 4-2 for Kedah at the hour's mark. Penang's fabulous start had turned into a nightmare by the time Khyril (73rd) and James (75th) plundered a goal each to complete the rout.
