CARMEN MIRANDA IN WOODY ALLEN'S RADIO DAYS

Back

Woody Allen dedicates this film of 1987 to the golden era of the American radio, which took place before television broke in houses in the 1940's. Nostalgically and with good sense of humor, he brings back that time with also a dedication to Carmen Miranda who he was a fan of with the song "South American Way" of 1940 - a repetition given during the credits. Carmen gave intense contribution to the American radio through her records, live shows & interviews and commercials. The Brazilian actress Denise Dummont has a small number, which clearly reminds us of Carmen and Xavier Cougat in the film "A Date of Judy" of 1948, singing "Tico Tico".
